Artistic integrations in fashion at times can be staid affairs, tepid offerings unworthy of contemplation, especially when every last drop of life is stage-managed out of them. Monday night (15 April 2024) at the Brooklyn Museum was anything but!

Fashionโ€™s leading sound director Michel Gaubert assembled a New York program for the occasion that was equal parts Yoko Ono (runway) and Kim Gordon (live performance). The latter in particular unleashed a devastating live set before an exclusive audience, some of whom could be forgiven for being just a little bit unsuspecting. Put simply, Kim and her excellent players imparted an authenticity, the likes of which cannot be manufactured and is even less likely to be loosed in a hyper-controlled environment like a runway show after party.
