Damien Neva is a video artist and writer who primarily works in the medium of short form film. Influenced by the American photographer Glen E. Friedman and Dogme 95 as well as the erudition of fashion critic Tim Blanks, a fiercely independent ethos suffuses all of Damien’s work, which for a decade helped form the digital signature of NEXT Management worldwide. For more than a dozen years Damien has shot and produced many hundreds of newsreel and interview films related to the world of high fashion modeling. His breathless coverage of the prêt-à-porter seasons in New York, London, Milan, and Paris in particular have taken viewers to the front lines of fashion, those rarefied realms where few people apart from model and designer, let alone photographer, ever glimpse. Fleet of foot, Damien prides himself on capturing decisive moments without impeding the creative process as it builds to crescendo behind the scenes of the world’s most vaunted runways. There is a truth to be witnessed away from flash bulbs and stanchions, which Damien’s work has long pursued and ultimately shown to be more sublime than rote reportage.

Damien has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Master of Arts in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University. He has more than two decades of experience in the fashion industry working for leading modeling agencies including NEXT, Ford, and Wilhelmina. Damien lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
